If you smell Gas: Do not try to light any appliance. Do not touch any electrical switch. Do not use any phone in your building. Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor's phone and follow the gas supplier's Instructions If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.
If you smell something burning: Attempt to determine the source and shut the appliance off if applicable. During the initial fall startup of your heating unit a smell of burning lint or dust may be encountered. This is a normal occurrence and will quickly pass.
If you see smoke coming from the outdoor heat pump: More likely than not this is the unit going through the defrost cycle. The heat pump is melting the accumulated frost, and water vapor is what you are seeing. Typically this will only last a few minutes during each cycle.
If you encounter these common noises: Whistles usually come from air leaks or quickly moving air. Check the air filter for a restricted airflow, ductwork for leaks, or registers that are closed. Rattles and Vibrations can come from many sources. Most are caused from motors, blowers or fans out of balance. Attempt to locate the source and/or contact Sea Coast for service.
