Is the thermostat calling for Cooling?

Make sure that the thermostat is set on COOL and at least  2 degrees below room temperature.
Check to make sure that the air filter is clean.

Is there power to the unit?

Check the power supply, fuses, or breakers.
Turn the fan switch from "AUTO" to "ON" and check to see if the fan is running.
If the fan is running on a package unit, you should have power to the whole unit.
If the fan runs on a split system, then power is on to the air handler (indoor unit) , but possibly not to the condensing unit (outdoor  unit).
If you are still not sure, Call Sea Coast for prompt service.

Is the compressor and outdoor fan running?

f the compressor and outdoor fan are not running or...
If the compressor and outdoor fan are running and you still are not cooling..
Then Call Sea Coast for prompt service.

How to Check the  performance of your cooling system.

On the typical summer day, you should have an average temperature difference of at least 14° to 17° between the return air temperature and the supply air  temperature.

To measure, take an ordinary household thermometer and take the temperature at the filter grille and the nearest supply air register (in the floor or in the ceiling).

Subtract the difference for your temperature drop. Perform this test twice and make sure your unit has been running for at least one-half hour prior to the testing.

If you do not achieve a temperature difference of at least 14°,  check to  make sure that the air filter is clean and that the outdoor  coils are unobstructed. Still not cooling ? 

Then Call Sea Coast for prompt service.
